Traditionally, the climate in the Ribera del Duero in late spring and early summer is dry, with warm temperatures that favour the vigorous and healthy growth of the vines. However, this year we have observed atypical behaviour during the month of June, characterised by intermittent rainfall and storms that have introduced a significant level of uncertainty into our vineyards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenges of the Unusual Climate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Although rainfall can be beneficial by providing necessary soil moisture, it also presents certain challenges. Excessive moisture favours the development of fungal diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew, which can compromise the health of the vines and, consequently, the quality of the grapes. Furthermore, storms have the potential to cause direct physical damage to the plants, ranging from the breakage of grape bunches to impacts on the structure of the leaves and shoots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Impact on Grape Development<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The unusual weather in June has had a noticeable impact on the development of our grapes. The rainfall has ensured adequate water availability, which could result in more vigorous plant growth.
