This is a fact that demands not only dedication, but also a commitment to their work and a drive for continuous improvement. This family-run winery has always been very clear about these pillars, which underpin the production of great quality wines, thanks to their cherished «black pearls».

Since 2003, Carmelo Rodero has been working on a unique wine that does not fit within the established parameters of the Designation of Origin, the TSM. A multi-varietal blend comprising 75% of Tempranillo, 10% of Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% of Merlot. These proportions, which push the boundaries set by the Regulatory Council, are a testament to the character of Carmelo Rodero’s second generation.

Daring to innovate, doing something less usual and breaking the mould are all things they have tried to pursue with this product. In the words of Beatriz Rodero, technical director of Carmelo Rodero, it came about from the need to present a wine that broke away from the classic Ribera del Duero profile, to try to reach that less classic type of customer and surprise them with a more modern and youthful line. «They wanted to bring something new to a very traditional sector, but without stepping outside the parameters that the D.O. demands.».

One might think, then, that the TSM consumer profile is young, but the reality is that the world of wine, as Beatriz Rodero relates, «is very subjective and each person, regardless of their age, looks for different wines». While it is true that «the young public looks for fruitier wines, with less time in oak barrels», TSM is a wine that is reaching every possible profile.

The blend formed by the freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruity touch of Merlot and the character of Tempranillo, as well as the different barrel aging times played with in the winery, makes TSM a wine that has achieved countless awards over recent years. Awards such as the recently obtained Gran Oro from the Real Casino de Madrid, or reviews of 97 points in the Guía Proensa, or scores of 98 in the Guía Gourmets, or Vivir el Vino.

The quality of this reference is worthy of these awards. To make this product, not only have different grape varieties been used, but it has also been ensured that they are of the highest possible quality. As Beatriz Rodero tells us, after each vintage, «an effort is always made to improve, basing our efforts on the aspiration for a superior wine in every vintage».

The winery's objective is for TSM to establish itself over the years as one of the finest wines on the market.

Carmelo Rodero es una de las bodegas más representativas de la Ribera del Duero, y el prestigio de sus vinos es conocido actualmente tanto dentro como fuera de España.
