Now that 2022 has come to an end, Bodegas Carmelo Rodero is taking stock of the challenges achieved in terms of corporate social responsibility and sustainability. The result could not be better and the goals have been met exactly as they were set out at the beginning of the year.
As a family business established in 1991, Bodegas Rodero has always been committed to smart viticulture and constant innovation throughout the winemaking process. Working towards the goal of establishing itself as a benchmark winery and staying true to its values, respect for the raw material to achieve quality wines has been non-negotiable.
The commitment to sustainability has been definitively consolidated this year 2022 with various actions that have succeeded in increasing Bodegas Rodero's positive impact on the environment.
Renewable energy sources are a fundamental element of a company's social responsibility, and the winery in Burgos has made a significant investment. As a result, 215 photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof of the complex's most modern building, which will generate nearly 100,000 kWh throughout 2023, representing an energy saving of 38%.
Given the materials used and the high quantities of them involved in winemaking, recycling was bound to be a major area for improvement. Therefore, Bodegas Rodero sources 100% of its cardboard from 70% recycled paper. Glass is also reused, and given their commitment to sustainability, bottle suppliers provide Rodero with products containing more than 50% recycled material. Finally, capsules also include reused elements in more than half of their composition.
Carmelo Rodero Winery remains steadfast in its environmental commitment and, with the various measures taken throughout this year, consolidates its commitment to sustainability in a solid and consistent manner.
